The Taj Mahal in Agra is closed every Friday and opens from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset on other days, according to the official Taj Mahal website. Built between 1631 and 1648, the white-marble mausoleum has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. Sunrise visits have the softest light and the shortest queues.
Delhi has three UNESCO World Heritage Sites that visitors can see in one day: the Red Fort Complex (inscribed in 2007), Humayun’s Tomb (1993) and the Qutb Minar complex (1993), whose 72.5-metre tower is the tallest masonry tower in India. Many monuments open at sunrise, and the Delhi Metro is the fastest way between them.
Jaipur, founded in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II, was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage City in 2019. Amber Fort on the edge of the city is one of the six Hill Forts of Rajasthan listed by UNESCO in 2013. Most visitors need 2 days to see Amber Fort, the City Palace, Hawa Mahal and the Jantar Mantar observatory.

Yes — many travellers pair a Taj Mahal or Jaipur tour with a Dine With Locals meal or an Indian wedding tour.
Start with the Golden Triangle — Delhi, Agra (Taj Mahal) and Jaipur — then add a cultural experience such as a home-cooked meal with a local family or an Indian wedding tour. For nature, add Rishikesh, Manali or a short Himalayan trek.
The Taj Mahal is open from sunrise to sunset every day except Friday, when it is closed for prayers.
Five days is comfortable: two in Delhi, one in Agra and two in Jaipur. You can do it in three days if you are short on time.
